Florida Beaches: Discover the Beauty, Uncover The Fun

When planning a trip to Florida, a visit to the beach is a must. However, there are so many beaches to choose from, and only so much time to visit all the sandy meccas that define the Sunshine State.

In order to pick the ideal waterfront destination, you first should take a look at the individual drawing points, attractions and geographic characteristics of each beach; whether it's a popular tourist mecca or a secluded seaside retreat.

When people think of Florida beaches, the first thing that seems to come to mind is Miami Beach; a center of both cultural and recreational activities. From swimming to sports, shopping to socializing, there's always something to do in Miami. This beach is considered one of the world's best.

Another popular Florida beach is St. Augustine, where tourist are known to 'drive the dunes' in their automobiles (where the law allows, that is) as well as swim, surf and bask in the sun.

A legendary lighthouse and luxury resorts are some of the main drawing points of Sanibel Island, also known for its vibrantly colored seashells and beautiful sunsets. Although not the best known Florida beach, it has been known for years as a family getaway. Throughout the country, people often share stories about childhood vacations spent at Sanibel.

Cocoa Beach is south of Cape Canavarel and is considered part of the Space Coast. Surfers, swimmers, sailing enthusiasts and tourists flood this beach; particularly those interested in its association to the legends of aeronautic space travel.

Also well known for surf, sand and fun is St. Augustine Beach, a place of sand dunes and lush natural beauty. Aside from the usual beachfront activities of surfing, sunning and swimming, some people also enjoy driving this beach, in areas where cars are permitted.

One of the few beaches in central Florida, Hudson Beach boasts miles of beautiful sands, classically designed beach houses and plenty of fun activities. Sailing, surfing and shelling are just a few of the popular activities on this beach, conveniently located near restaurants, a community theater and other attractions.

Panama City Beach, located along the north coast, boasts activities for all ages. While kids enjoy the marine and family fun parks located at the beach, adults can fish, dive, and visit beach bars and restaurants.

One spot that is known for spring break fun, and as a popular tourist destination, is Fort Lauderdale Beach. Parks, recreation and restaurant attractions, and plenty of gold sand, are some of the key drawing points in the Ft. Lauderdale experience.

Known as a tourists' paradise, Fort Lauderdale Beach is popular among spring breakers and senior citizens alike. Known for its lush golden sands and various parks and special attractions, Lauderdale often is considered the ultimate vacation destination.

So those are some of your options; now it's time to start planning your Florida vacation. After all, life's a beach...
